Laura Ford, Jahrgang 1961, war bereits während ihres Studiums der Bildhauerei an der Bath Academy of Art und an der Londoner Chelsea School of Art an namhaften Gruppenausstellungen beteiligt und erhielt anschließend verschiedene Auszeichnungen wie den Henry Moore Foundation Award. Seitdem hat die heute in West Sussex lebende Künstlerin ihre Arbeiten international vielfach ausgestellt und Außenraumskulpturen in verschiedenen Ländern Europas ebenso wie in China, Kanada und den USA dauerhaft im öffentlichen Raum installiert. Ihre Werke sind heute in bedeutenden privaten und öffentlichen Kunstsammlungen vertreten – etwa in den Sammlungen der Deutschen Bundesbank und des Shanghai Sculpture Park, in der britischen Government Art Collection oder im Victoria & Albert Museum und der Tate Collection in London. Ohne Pathos spiegelt die Künstlerin menschliche Seelenzustände. Dabei scheinen ihre Motive häufig der fantastischen Welt kindlicher Vorstellungen, Träume oder Ängste zu entspringen. Als Inspiration dienen ihr aktuelle Ereignisse genauso wie Sprichwörter, Kinderreime und Bilderbücher oder auch Klassiker der Literatur- und Kunstgeschichte. Mit viel Humor und Scharfblick entwickelt Laura Ford eine vielschichtige künstlerische Sprache, die eine nachhaltige Wirkung entfaltet. In Deutschland ist das facettenreiche Werk der Britin durch ihre wiederholte Teilnahme an der Skulpturenbiennale »Blickachsen« ebenso wie durch zahlreiche Museumsausstellungen und ihre dauerhaften Installationen im öffentlichen Raum verschiedener Städte bekannt. Im Bad Homburger Gustavsgarten sind zudem seit 2018 fünf bis zu 3 Meter große »Emissary Cats« der Künstlerin installiert.

Laura Ford, born in 1961, was already involved in renowned group exhibitions during her sculpture studies at the Bath Academy of Art and at London's Chelsea School of Art and subsequently received various awards such as the Henry Moore Foundation Award. Since then, the artist, who now lives in West Sussex, has exhibited her work internationally on numerous occasions and has permanently installed outdoor sculptures in public spaces in various European countries as well as in China, Canada and the USA. Today, her works are represented in important private and public art collections - for example in the collections of the Deutsche Bundesbank and the Shanghai Sculpture Park, in the British Government Art Collection or in the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Tate Collection in London. The artist reflects human states of mind without pathos. Her motifs often seem to spring from the fantastic world of children's imaginations, dreams or fears. She draws inspiration from current events as well as proverbs, nursery rhymes and picture books or even classics from the history of literature and art. With a great deal of humor and a keen eye, Laura Ford develops a multi-layered artistic language that has a lasting effect. In Germany, the multi-faceted work of the British artist is known through her repeated participation in the sculpture biennial "Blickachsen" as well as through numerous museum exhibitions and her permanent installations in public spaces in various cities. In Bad Homburg's Gustavsgarten, five of the artist's "Emissary Cats" measuring up to 3 meters in height have also been installed since 2018.
